Ubiik Inc. is a Taiwan-based energy IoT solutions provider headquartered in Taipei, with subsidiaries in Japan, the United States, Canada, France, and New Zealand. Initially, Ubiik focused on the development of LPWAN (Low-Power Wide-Area Network) wireless communication systems, successfully launching a two-way LPWAN communication solution based on the Weightless™ protocol along with related hardware and software technologies. In 2022, Ubiik won its fourth contract for Taiwan Power Company's smart meter communication system, with the awarded amount exceeding NT$530 million. The total number of installed units is expected to surpass 1.16 million over four years, with accumulated awarded contracts totaling NT$1.78 billion, making Ubiik the leading AMI provider in Taiwan. Ubiik is also the only startup selected and awarded by Taipower for its AMI communication system.
The recently unveiled goRAN base station, showcased at MWC, is a dedicated LTE-M/NB-IoT network base station for utilities and IoT applications. It uses Private LTE technology to address the coverage gaps of traditional telecom networks and provides complete "last mile" coverage in challenging IoT environments. Its applications extend beyond AMI and include smart street lighting, parking and charging infrastructure management for hotels and commercial buildings, as well as smart factories—delivering optimized site communications, reduced operational costs, and improved efficiency.
In addition to supporting utilities in deploying AMI smart metering systems, Ubiik is actively developing microgrid energy management solutions. By integrating end devices, communication services, energy software, and cloud platforms, Ubiik helps enterprises manage their energy usage, access electricity data, reduce costs and consumption, and contribute to sustainable net-zero development goals.
